Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the Organising Committee of the Dubai Fitness Championship has announced that registration for the second edition of the Championship will begin tomorrow Tuesday the 13th of August and will run until the 7th of September.
The event that aims to raise awareness about the importance of exercising, health and promoting fitness across the nation is open to nationals, expats and foreigners. Registration for the 3-week Qualifying Round which takes place between 18th August and the 8th of September can be done through the Championship’s revamped official website www.dxbfitness.com by filling in the online form. Participants will need to fill in basic personal and physical information such as name, nationality, contact details in addition to details about height, weight and age. Participants will also be required to upload an updated personal photo before receiving a Championship Membership number.
Following online registration, registered participants will need to visit one of the designated Fitness First clubs found at Mirdif City Centre, Oasis Centre or Knowledge Village to book a slot in the Qualifying Round during the clubs’ working hours. Nationals and expats will be asked to present an Emirates ID or driver’s license, while tourists and foreigners will be asked to show their passport. A registration fee per try-out of AED80 will be applicable to all and participants will be given the chance to try-out more than once to improve their qualifying time.
Those who come to register for the Qualifying Round will be given one of 288 slots available per day at each of the three different locations anytime between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
Khalid Abdullah Chookah, Senior Manager – Support & Liaison at the Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Director of the Dubai Fitness Championship comments: “We’ve been receiving quite a number inquiries and calls about registration and the championship in general, leading us to believe that we will see heightened participation for the second edition of the championships. The excitement that has been building is clearly evident even before the championships have had a chance to begin.”
The annual event challenges participants to test their strength, courage and endurance with an open invitation to both males and females from various backgrounds. Ultimately the Dubai Fitness Championship is a call to encourage physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
Khalid Chookah adds: “We decided to allocate three different registration locations in Dubai in order to reach a wider audience and make it more convenient for people to come and register. The entire process has been made easier and faster through online registration, and we encourage people to register early in order to book a slot for the qualifiers as we expect a high turnout this year.”
Following the completion of this stage of the competition, 36 qualifying men and 36 qualifying women will compete in the final 3-day event on the 12th, 13th and 14th of September at the Dubai Ice Rink at The Dubai Mall.
